There are two groups of Church Cleaners – the Monday Group and the Friday Group. Their job, as you might guess, is to keep St Colmcille’s Church in pristine condition and they’ve been doing it almost since the parish was set up back in 1974.

Both groups are made up of volunteers, (there’s about eleven in the Monday group and eight in the Friday group) and undertake their work after the 10 o’clock Mass on Monday and Friday mornings. The work is followed by a cuppa and a chat, and each group has it own distinctive style of camaraderie, friendship and “craic”.

The work of these groups is invaluable and each group carries out its tasks quietly and unobtrusively. Both groups are always on the lookout for able-bodied men and women who can offer some time and elbow grease. In return you get to make new friends and make a worthwhile contribution to parish activities.
