The society was founded in 1996 and has about 45 members.
The aim of the society is to further an interest in history
- local and otherwise in a pleasant and sociable manner. The
group has meetings on the second Wednesday of the month (7.45 pm) in the Iona Centre.
These meetings provide considerable stimulation and the topics
are always lively, interesting and informative. Attending these
evenings will awaken an interest in historical matters, especially
local items. In addition, the group organises outings and visits
to places of historical interest.
New members are always welcome and are made to feel at home.
