The
St Colmcille Conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul
was set up in Knocklyon in 1974. It currently has nine active
members carrying out the work of the Society which is primarily
to help those in need.
The Conference meets weekly in
the Iona Centre and carry out visits to clients after the meeting.
The group of
people are very well-intentioned, and even though the nature
of the work is quite serious, they do have some fun and laughs.
As one member said: “The Society certainly keeps your
feet firmly planted on the ground!”
People in need of help can call 087 3246321 and leave a short message. Somebody from the Society will respond.
Anyone who feels that they have a calling for this kind of
work can contact the Presbytery for further information.
