Our lives are called to be a response to a
God who loves us. We are challenged to believe our past is redeemed;
the defenceless
are guaranteed protection and the sinner is not only forgiven
but reinstated by God’s compassionate love. How many
of us are compassionate enough not only to forgive, but to
welcome back the offender with fullness and openness of heart.
When we judge others, how many of us see ‘there but the
grace of God . . . . .” (Jn 8:1-11)
Our future is full of promise and hope. We respond to God by
being true to his covenant of love as Abraham was (Gen 17:3-9).
Our response will be tested in times of trial as the prophets
and Jesus himself discovered again and again. Unlike Jesus,
how often do we fail to speak out because we fear the consequences?
Christ’s
truth is that God is faithful to his promises and we can be
certain that will never change.
- What new awareness have I found
this Lent?
- In what ways do I
need to be welcomed back into God’s
compassionate Love?
- Am I able to forgive myself?
- Do I respond or react to situations?
- Can I forgive without judging?
- In what ways do I manipulate others?
- How will I respond as a
Christian in an increasingly secular society?
