Racist

There is something great about Dublin, but things are changing. Life seemed simpler in the past. I used to love the Dublin wit. You'd go into a pub and the Dublin man behind the bar would give you a pint of Irish Guinness and tell you some of his woes, and comment on the state of the nation and crack a few jokes with great wit. Before you knew it you were feeling very well and fully at home. We never went to restaurants then. We always had good food at home. I certainly wouldn't go out to eat now, with all those foreign restaurants and all the foreigners serving even in the Irish ones. I wonder why they all came here. I think they could be a lot better off at home in their own countries. Am I a racist?

I went to the doctor not so long ago. The doctor sent me for tests. I went for the tests and couldn't believe the number of foreigners in the hospital. I don't think that's right. What if they don't speak our language and get the messages wrong? What if they have different habits to us, you know, about hygiene and all that? What if their religion is different to ours and things that are right for them aren't right for us? I don't think it's right to have foreigners like that in places where peoples' health is at risk. Am I a racist?

It's very hard to get a job nowadays with all those foreigners in the country. Is it any wonder that so many people are on the dole? I can't see why life has to be made so easy for all those people. They come here just looking for more money. How do we know who they are? For all we know they could be carrying drugs, or worse still, a contagious disease. I think we have to do much more to take care of our own. We have always helped those people in the past. Didn't Irish missionaries go all over the world to help those countries that were not as developed as we were, or less educated or poorer than us. We have always helped the poor. Why do they have to come here just to fill up the country with all their problems? Am I a racist?......

I am, and I don't feel good about it .............
