Helen O'Keeffe, Visual Artist

Helen O’Keeffe graduated from NCAD in 1985 with a Diploma in Art Education followed by Principles of Teaching, with a special commendation in the History of Art & Design. In 1992 she continued her studies at the Leith School of Art in Edinburgh.

While her main occupation has been teaching at second level, Helen has always managed to continue her own work. In 1997 she moved of full time education. At present she works part time as an Arts Facilitator with the South Western Area Health Board at Cherry Orchard Hospital, Dublin. The remaining time is engaged in producing artwork to commission.

In 2000, she joined the Leinster Printmaking Studio in Clane. This has afforded her the opportunity to revisit her favoured media, and to spend time in further exploration. Her preferred methods in printmaking are woodblock, linocut, monotype and carborundum. Helen also enjoys the combination of word and image, exploring meaning and communicating hope using diverse media.
