GIRLS
GAELIC FOOTBALL
Our Under 14 girls have made magnificent progress under the
guidance of our Westmeath star Mr. Davitt. The team was performing
in
a Leinster competition for the first time and had remarkable
success.
They were most unfortunate to lose out to De La Salle from
Carlow in the semi-final of the competition after a fabulous
victory
over Bridgetown of Wexford in the quarter final.
Paula McGrath, Natalia Hyland, Shauna Cannon, Sarah Cummins,
Siobhan Pennycook, Hannah Meade, Laura Medbury, Michelle O’Connor,
Eilis Knight, Emma Greene all excelled throughout the
year.
Mr. Davitt will be playing for Westmeath over the summer in
Croke Park but it is unlikely he will have as much success
as the school
team has had!
CAMOGIE
The girls had great success again this term where we reached
the semi-final of Dublin but were unfortunate to lose out to
Marysfield on our home pitch.
Claire and Lisa Watson both performed brilliantly and Sharon
Glynn and Paula McGrath were players who stood out for their
commitment and dedication throughout the year.
HURLING
The Dublin under 14 colleges team competed in the Leinster ‘A’ hurling
this year and St. Colmcilles had four representatives on the
panel. The team won the Shield which was the very first time
for a Dublin team. Ciaran Brennan, Stephen O’Connor, Elvin
Moynagh, Oisin Cannon were the players who got selected to play
for their county.
SOCCER
The boys under 13 reached the quarter final of their Dublin league
and were unlucky to lose out in a very competitive game. Alex
Fletcher, Keith Gillis and Eoin Leonard all starred.
TABLE TENNIS
The competitions ran very well this terms with all teams performing
admirably. Stephen Vincent, Keith Gillis, Siobhan Pennycook,
Laura Medbury, Roisin McHugh and Ciara Errity all excelled.
COMMUNITY SCHOOL SPORTS DAY
The School Sports Day was a fantastic success with nearly 500
boys and girls participating. There was a wide variety of events
such as the 100m sprint, three-legged race, tug-of-war, golf,
shooting, hurling, table tennis, gaelic football, indoor soccer
and basketball. We were blessed with a beautiful day and every
single student represented their class and themselves impeccably.
The transition year students helped with the organising and
students like Leanne Gaughran, Tara Scully, Mark Mahon and
Jason Morton could make wonderful teachers some day! Some of
the students who received awards were Darragh Kelly Murtagh,
Rebecca Hennessy, Laura Nealon, Neil McAlistair, Simon Connolly,
Jessica Charters, Gavin White, Ciara Timbs, Rachel Ruddy, Laura
Boggan and Steven Boland.
