The Parents’s Association covers both the Junior and
Senior schools. The Committee is made up of a minimum of 8
and a maximum of 16 people. The purpose of the Association
is to provide a structure through which the parents and guardians
of children attending St Colmcille’s primary schools
can work together for the best possible education and environment
for their children.
The Parent Association works with the Principals, staffs and
Boards of Management to build and effective partnership of
home and school. The aim of the Association is to enable parents
to play their part in ensuring the best possible education
and environment for their children, through the Association’s
programme of activities.
The Committee meets at least once a month during the school
year to plan Parent Association events, set the calendar, and
monitor the budget. The Committee, through liaison with Principals,
has a consistent line of communication with school.
Parent Association activities vary each year in accordance
to the school needs. In general the Committee fundraises for
school requirements, assist in school events eg Communion and
Confirmation receptions, School Book Fair, arrange lectures,
and so on. The association issues a newsletter during the year
updating parents on events to date.
Volunteering to work for the Association is a great way to
meet other parents and stay involved in your child’s
education. It is time spent for a great cause – your
child and his/her school.
New members can be elected to the Committee at the AGM, however
volunteers for activities are always welcome and can contact
the PA Secretary (contact numbers available
from the School Secretary).
